Fishing in the Dnipropetrovsk region
Dnepr region is located in the center of Ukraine. The climate here is temperate-continental, and the relief is a wavy plain. The highest point of the region is 211 meters above sea level.
The Dnieper River divides the region into two parts: the right bank (Pridneprovskaya Upland) and the left bank (Pridneprovskaya lowland), it is also the main river of the region. The rivers Samara, Volchya, Ingulets, Orel and Mokraya Sura are tributaries and flow into the Dnieper. Altogether there are 146 rivers in the region, and their total length is 4926 km.
A significant role in the water supply of the Dnepr region is played by two main canals: the Dnieper-Donbass and the Dnieper-Krivoy Rog. 104 reservoirs are located in the region. Of these, 3 (Kamenskoye, Dnieper and Kakhovskoye) belong to the cascade of the Dnieper Hydroelectric Power Station.
The largest lake in the region is the Samarskaya Zatoka (the former lake named after Lenin), it is located at the confluence of the Dnieper, Samara and Kilchеn rivers. Also in the region there are 1242 ponds, most of which are on lease.

Where to go fishing in the Dnipropetrovsk region?
In this area the cleanest river of Ukraine – Orel flows. About 220 km of its length in the region. The deepest artificial reservoir of Ukraine is the Dnieper reservoir, in the floodplain of Samara there is a real relic of the Samara forest. In addition, there is the Dnieper here, which is famous for its wealth, and if you are not enough, I ask you to Samara Zatoka – a unique artificially created lake in which there are such fish as catfish, carp, crucian carp, bream, perch, pike and roach . All this makes local fishermen think and choose the place of catching. But it’s good when there is a choice!
The rivers, reservoirs and lakes of the Dnieper, I recommend firstly to consider the fisherman, especially if your profile catches predatory fish. Well, if you prefer to catch carp – then you should pay attention to commercial ponds. They are in the area in the number of 1242 pieces.
Fans of sport fishing recommend such water bodies as Orleans (near the village of Golubinovka) and Krutaya Balka (Lyubimovka village). Here, sport fishing for carp is held.
There are almost no salt ponds in the region (except Salty Liman), so it is enough to use standard fishing lines, hooks, fishing rods and drums. Currently, local fishermen usually use fishing rods, feeders and spinnings.
Do good …
And throw it into the water … I want to draw your attention to the fact that now the principle of “Catch – release” is very popular in Ukraine. This is promoted by the coolest sportsmen, bloggers and TV presenters. What’s the point of this? It’s very simple: fishing is a pleasure, and every participant of the process must get his portion. And the fish, including 🙂 So do not hesitate to let go of the fish.
I do not urge you to completely abandon the use of the fish that you caught. No! Fish soup and fried crucian, it’s very cool! I just encourage the fishermen to treat the fish with reverence.
And do not forget the catch quota! During the day you can get no more than 3 kg from the public pond. That’s enough!
